How to bring more Inner peace into your life

The daily life can be busy, hectic and at times overwhelming. It may sometimes feel like bringing just a little more inner peace and calmness into your life is a hopeless wish. But it doesn't have to be that way. Small and Smart changes can overtime make a huge difference in your life. So today we'd like to share 9 of our own favorite tips for finding more peace and calmness in everyday life.

1. Set Limits

If your life is overfilled you may need to set some limits. So stop doing some of the least important things, the things that honestly don’t matter that much.

Set a limit for how many times you will check inboxes, Instagram, Twitter etc. per day. And say no if you really don’t have the time.

2. Find a relaxation technique that works for you.

I am sure there is some things in your life where you get a sense of total freedom and relaxation. Try to schedule a weekly, daily, or monthly moment for yourself where you solely do that one thing. It doesn't have to be a major activity, for me Long walks, yoga, meditation and swimming are the activities where I get the sense of a mental and physical relieve?

3. Don’t make mountains out of molehills.

This can create a lot of unnecessary stress.

When facing what looks like a mountain ask yourself questions like:

  • Does someone on the planet have it worse than me right now?
  • Will this matter in 5 years?

Most of the times you will find out that the amount of stress, fear, and negative energy does not reflect the scale of the issue. These questions help you to zoom out and realize that things may not be that bad and that you can handle them.

4. Remember: There's a day tomorrow too.

Sometimes you have a bad day. Or life interferes with your plans for the day.

And so you don’t get what you had planned or hoped for done.

The best way to handle such a situation is – in my experience – simply to kindly tell yourself that there’s a day tomorrow too and that you can get it done then.

Beating yourself up is on the other hand not a smart or helpful strategy. You will then enter a negative spiral which will only lead to lower productivity and so less Happiness and inner peace.

5. Breathe.

When stressed, lost in a problem or the past or future in your mind breathe with your belly for two minutes and just focus on the air going in and out. Thereby you clear your mind and find the inner-peace which will lead to a better decision making process.

6. Remember the 5 little words that’ll help you to stay sane: one thing at a time.

By keeping those words in mind and letting them guide you through your day you will find yourself less stressed and more focused on the one thing that is in front of you at that moment. Thereby you clear the noises in your head and can have a more clear and peaceful mind.

7. Solve a problem that is weighing down on you.

Everyone faces problems and difficulties in their lives, the difference is the way in which we solve them. You can think that by hiding the problems out of your sight, they somewhat disappeared. You have actually not solved the problems but just procrastinated, which means that they will show up again. Try to solve your problem and all the underlying assets immediately. It will release stress and constant tension and will make you feel more comfortable, which is necessary for inner peace.

8. Accept and let go.

Now is now. But if something negative from the past – something someone said, something someone did – is still on your mind then accept and let that feeling and thought in instead of trying to push it away.

And while the facts may still be there in your head the negative feelings become a lot less powerful.

Focus solely on the things that you can change and let go of the things you cannot, like the past!

9. Be 10 minutes early.

While this advice can sound insignificant, this may be the one small change that can transform your life. The sense of rush is an unpleasant and stressful experience. Make sure that you are not having that feeling every day on your way to your work, appointments, or school. Once you calculate an additional 10 minutes for your travel, you will be able to enjoy the ride and use that time to calm your brain and think about the beauty of life!
